EDO’S FAMILY WINERY
PODERI DI SAN PIETRO
LA FAMIGLIA
Behind Belmilan there is first of all a family.
Before Lifestyle, there are vineyards.
Edo’s family — the Toninelli — has been working the land since 1954. What started as a passion for agriculture grew into a winemaking journey now carried by the 3rd generation.
In 1998, Poderi di San Pietro was founded. Today, the winery manages 54 hectares of vineyards, following one simple philosophy: from the grape to the bottle, everything stays in our hands.
What makes it special is the balance between tradition and progress — handpicked grapes, deep know-how, advanced cellar technology, and people who truly love what they do.
This is where Belmilan’s wine story begins.
THE WINE OF MILANO
When people think of Milan, they think of fashion, aperitivo, and city life. A city famous for drinking wine, not making it. But just 30 km south of the Duomo, in its province, the story changes. Skyscrapers disappear, and vineyards tell another story of Milan.
This is where Poderi di San Pietro is located — in San Colombano al Lambro, the only wine region in the province of Milan. A small but historic area shaped by winemaking since Roman times. The hills offer everything vines love: sandy, silty, and calcareous soils allowing different wine styles.
Within the San Colombano D.O.C. and Collina del Milanese I.G.T. appellations, we cultivate local and international grape varieties.
- Red varieties: Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara, Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Pinot Noir
- White varieties: Chardonnay, Trebbiano, Cortese, Malvasia, Pinot Grigio, Verdea
MADE WITH AMORE
Sustainability starts in the vineyards and continues in the cellar.
The vineyards are spread across different areas, surrounded by forests that boost biodiversity, soil health and help absorb CO₂, keeping the winery close to carbon-neutral.
Manual work is the heart of everything: hand harvesting, careful pruning, and low yields that favour quality over quantity.
A key part of our approach is Integrated Pest Management (IPM) — a farming strategy that prioritizes prevention and low-impact treatments to reduce chemical use while keeping vines healthy.
In the cellar, less is more.
Low sulfite levels — less than half of the recommended amount, keep the wine pure.
Minimal filtration — through a custom gravity-based system that preserves texture and character, and a gentle pressing ensures only the best part of the must is used.
The result is wine that feels fresh, elegant, and true to its origin.
Made possible by combining tradition with modern winemaking technology.
